Here's how it all works:

These advertisers are waiting to hear from you! Each advertiser has access to their own voice mail box, kind of like a personal answering machine. They have each recorded a voice greeting that explains more about themselves and what they are looking for in a partner. When a respondent leaves a message, the advertisers can call the voice mail box for free, listen to the messages and return the calls. Each ad that you see here also appears in the "Providence Journal" section. Providence Journal is updated every Tuesday.

To respond to an ad:

Simply call (900) 328-0112, 24 hours a day. The call costs $2.29 per minute, and you must be 18 or older. Using a touch-tone phone enter the four-digit number that corresponds to a specific ad in the paper, or browse all of the voice ads from people in a category of your choice. You may listen to as many voice ads as you'd like and leave your own private message for the people that interest you.

Guidelines:

Anyone seeking a long-term, monogamous relationship may advertise in the Providence Journal Personals. To ensure your safety, carefully screen all responses. First meetings should occur in a public place. We suggest your ad contain a self description, age range sought, lifestyle and avocations. Ads containing explicit sexual or anatomical language will not be accepted. The Providence Journal reserves the right to reject any advertisement. You must be 18 years of age or older to place a Providence Journal ad. No ads will be published seeking persons under 18.
